The school year started and HS Spanish 2 students have been reviewing what they have learned last year for the past 2 months and adding more knowledge about vocabulary and grammar. To conclude Term 1 with an authentic project, they have been really busy creating their comic book. Not only they have gained knowledge in both Spanish and technology with this project, but they also now have a chance to enter the Spanish Comic Contest this year. Mark your calendars, 30th of October is the last day to submit your comics to Ms. Joo (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Great job to all HS Spanish Level 2 students for their excellent work this term.
Below are some student work and several student reflections I have gathered for you. Please enjoy!
The Spanish Term 1 Project contained multiple steps: establishing original sentences by myself, creating comics and posters about my daily routine. It required efficiency, details, fluency, advanced vocabularies, and new technology skills. I put most effort in making sentences because I had to include reflexive verbs and new terms I have learned in this unit. Furthermore, the best part was the comic. Because it was my first time to create a comic digitally, it was challenging and fun at the same time. After I got used to the digital techniques, it was fun to combine all the photos and record the routines. Looking at the final product, I was proud that I created my first comic in my life by myself. I focused on making the story smooth and tried my best to record the routines with fluency. The term 1 project was such a great experience because I learned significant lessons through these challenges. If I were to do this project again in the future, I would space out my time more effectively because only the class time was given to make the sentences. Overall, I was satisfied with my work and effort I put in. -Sally Kang
I felt successful about creating my own book. I haven’t created a comic book for any projects in the past. It was very meaningful to make my own comic book by drawing and writing everything. I could also record my voice because it was an e-book. Because I didn’t get help from the Google Translate, I think I feel more accomplished and more satisfied.-Hannah Kwon
I think making comics allows more creative expression than making extremely -realistic live-action videos. For example, my cover page is based on the painting “Golconda”, which depicts a scene of near-identical men dropping from the sky like heavy rains, I replaced the men with pictures of me. I can't-do that in a video. -Alice Yichen Ding
It was not a very common or typical project, because we had to use a variety of different resources such as Book Creator and Canva and also incorporate imaginative thinking. It is also good that we will be able enter into a contest with this project.-Jun Cho
The parts that I am proud of is that I successfully used Spanish in explaining my daily routine since I found it difficult last year. My favorite thing that I learned from this project is that I was able to come across this Comic book creator program. I feel like I can use this for other projects as well.- Seowoo Kwon
The highlight of my project is the comic book I have created. It includes all of my work applied from the teaching from our Spanish class. -Sangmin Oh
