On Saturday, February 4, the CDS JV basketball team traveled all the way to Suwon to play in the KAIAC Tournament with schools from the red and white divisions. In fact we were the only white division team that dared to play in the tournament! In the first game we shocked the world as we beat one of the top teams in KAIAC, YISS from the blue (highest) division. We were lead by the relentless energy of our captain, Junior C Mo Alzaki. He lead all players in scoring with 12 points, and a series of impressive fastbreaks! After the victory, we advanced to play SFS, the #1 seed in the tournament.
As CDS advanced to play against the #1 seed in the tournament, SFS, they were inspired and hopeful by the way they had played earlier in the day. However, coaches had warned us that SFS was #1 seed for a reason. They are really, really good. They boasted a perfect record on the season, having won all games in swift, deciding fashion. Unfortunately, playing against CDS was no different as the Phoenix fell down big early and ended up losing 8-59 in the 24 minute game. It was a total massacre, but the Phoenix never stopped playing tough, and kept a competitive spirit throughout the game. CDS JV Boys Basketball team will take the court again next weekend when they play at the KAIAC White Division Boys Basketball tournament on February 11th. It will be the last fixture of the year.
