On Saturday the Phoenix's ventured to Dwight to compete in the KAIAC White Division Girls Basketball Tournament. The day began with a 9:00am tip-off against ICS-U, and this would determine whether or not we would move forward with the possibility of a 3rd or 4th seed placement. It was a nerve-wracking first match with our girls clearly eager to win. This was especially apparent in the first two quarters, but they managed to slow themselves down and earn a 27-17 Phoenix victory! We moved forward...and in our second game we played against ICS-P. In the first two quarters CDS managed to maintain composure and match the Pyeongtaek players point for point. However, with four baskets scored in in rapid succession by ICS-P in the third, we found ourselves in a position difficult to recover from. There was a strong revival in the fourth quarter, but in the end our second game was a loss. In our final match against KKFS, the Phoenix’s rounded out their afternoon with a victory! KKFS was working a similar floor plan to us- showing some strength on defense, however, the ever adaptable Phoenixes found a way in. This game saw a number of highlights including two lucky 3 pointers courtesy of Hyewon Hong as well as some tremendous rebounding from our posts. We entered Saturday tied with two other teams for 5th, but the Phoenixes fought their way up for 3rd place. Coaches Parmar and Pantano are extremely pleased with the growth seen in the team and look forward to the 2017-2018 season.
