On Wednesday the ICS-U Eagles traveled to CDS for the Phoenix's final league game. Back in December when we last faced off our girls suffered a devastating one-shot loss to the Eagles, but had no intentions this week of letting that happen again! There were not many points had in the first quarter, and it seemed that some of our girls just could not run our plays. It was not looking positive in the second either, but things took a turn in the third quarter! The Phoenixes really stepped up their game in what was one of their best offensive matches of the season. We saw more of our younger players rise to the occasion with ninth grader Teresa Park accounting for two of our baskets, and more shot attempts than previously seen throughout the season. In this game we also saw the return of Elizabeth Yu (10) who had been out the last three games due to a knee injury. While Elizabeth was responsible for a number of baskets, she also acted as a great assist to other players. Throughout the game she knew where to be, and got there! In both the third and fourth quarter the Eagles put up a strong fight- matching us point by point, minute by minute. However, following some technical difficulties, the Phoenixes managed to clinch the win in the final 6 seconds thanks to a much overdue basket courtesy of Julie Kwak (11). The final score of the game 25-23.
