Last Friday’s match against ICS-P was a close one, with the score being 1-0. The girls played hard, but conceded a goal late in the second half and couldn’t make up for it. The very next morning (with many sleep-crusted eyes from the lock-in) they played ICS-U, and senior Hyunjy Kim got her second goal of the season! She is now the leading goal scorer for the girls team. The end score was 3-1, with a silly goal conceded via a PK because of a handball in the box.
Saturday’s game against Dwight was the best match we’ve played yet! The girls really brought the fire and had some great passing up-top between freshman Elizabeth Yu, sophomore Hoyeon Cho, and senior Hyunjy Kim. Senior Louis Yeo was even quoted saying: “Wow, the girls look really competitive out there!”, while seniors Domenic Yoon and Nick Choi just stared in awe and disbelief. During the game, the girls had great energy and showed they wanted the ball by beating many of the Dwight players to it. Sophomore Christine Chun, along with senior Vivian Lew did a great job of controlling the defense and catching the Dwight girls in many offsides traps. Our goal was scored by sophomore Hoyeon Cho, who gracefully and calmly trapped the ball in their box, saw that their keeper had the entire right side of the goal open, and scored! Sadly, due to a few early goals, a fake yellow card, a PK, and an apology from the referee, the end result was 5-1, in Dwight’s favor.
We are really looking forward to our game on Tuesday against KKFS, and our tournament on Saturday, April 30th. Thank you to everyone for their continued support!
