In their first game following a long Winter Break the female Phoenixes faced off once again against the ICS-P Conquerors. We started off highly optimistic and looking for redemption in this game! When we last faced off with ICS-P, CDS suffered a devastating one shot loss, and Wednesday’s game proved no less challenging. The three weeks away from practice showed in our team, as we struggled to hold our own against the aggressive Conqueror defense. In that struggle to keep up, unfortunately the team saw a number of player injuries. Senior Hye Yoon Kim suffered a devastating sprain in the 3rd quarter, and Julie Kwak sat out mid-4th following a hard land on her arm. The game was not without positive moments, however, with some of our youngest players stepping up. Freshman Yerin Park showed some welcomed initiative - taking a personal record in the number of shots taken, and Jiah Kim making a number of wise calls on offense. We are hopeful going into Friday’s game against Dwight, and wish a speedy recovery to our injured teammates.
