On Wednesday, January 18 the CDS varsity boys basketball team put their winning streak on the line as they faced off against the Eagles from ICS-U. The Phoenix had lost the previous battle to the Eagles, 44-48, back when the team was playing a different style of ball. But, this would be a new style of ball, the fast-breaking style that had won the team two games in a row. The Pheonix played aggressive from the outstart employing a full court trap that wore down their opponents gradually throughout the course of the game. By the time the 3rd quarter ended, the Phoenix had outscored their opponent 18-4 in the stanza, giving them a solid lead heading into the 4th. The game was never in doubt after that. Phoenix 56, Eagles 38. Leading the team were co-captains Jace Kang (16 points, 7 steals, 4 blocks) and Phillip Yoon (15 points, 9 steals, 4 assists). CDS will take the court again on Friday when the play host to BISC.
