On December 7th, the Phoenix of CDS took on the Merlins of KKFS in their 4th basketball match of the season. The game had been circled on the calendar for quite some time. Kent senior Aaron Bell had been ranked all season in the KAIAC Top 10, topping out at #2 prior to the match. CDS had carefully developed a gameplan to try and limit the player who had dropped 43 points in his previous contest. Sophomore guard Jace Kang drew the defensive assignment and limited him to just 8 points through three quarters. With other KKFS players stepping up to hurt the Phoenix, and down 30-40, Dalton used a full-court press to try and swing momentum in their favor to start the 4th quarter. Despite outscoring the Merlins 19-16 in the 4th, the Phoenix ran out of gas in the end and lost by a final score of 49-56. The Phoenix were lead by sophomore guard Phillip Yoon who had 20 points (a new career high), 7 steals and 5 assists. The #5 ranked player in KAIAC, CDS senior center Caleb Kim, chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The team plays next on Friday, when they hit the road bound for Uijeongbu and a matchup with the Eagles of ICS-U.
