The CDS Visual Arts program would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming Silent Art Auction in April! Keeping true to our "Pioneering to Serve" motto- over the last four years CDS students in the First Program, Middle School, and High School have come together, and donated pieces of artwork to be sold to raise funds for a charitable cause. Last year we raised over ₩1,600,000 collectively for charity! This year all proceeds from the auction will be donated to “TNKR" (Teach North Korean Refugees.
This is the same organization CDS supported last year. Many of you may also remember the visit and talk given by TNKR in the week after this event. So, you might have some questions about this....
Q: What kind of artwork can be submitted?
A: You can submit any 2D artwork that you have created in the last two years! These can be work from CDS, artwork created at home and in your free time, etc… Preference is given to 2D pieces (drawings, paintings, collage, photographs, reliefs, etc…)
Q: Do I need to do anything special to the artwork before donating it?
A: Yes! You will need to fill out the the “Art Auction Info Sheet” found below and you must prepare your artwork for display. All drawings, prints, and paper works need to be framed, matted or mounted. If you have artwork on canvas, you are not required to frame it.
Q: How much should my starting bid be?
A: Between ₩10,000-₩50,000 max
Q: Can I submit multiple pieces?
Q: I am not in an art class right now, but I would still like to participate. Can I?
A: Yes, absolutely! Even if you are not currently enrolled in an art class, you are open to donate work to the auction.
Q: After the auction do I get my work back?
A: No, donated works will be given to the highest bidder. All of the proceeds then go to charity.
Q: When do I need to submit by?
A: April 6th at the latest.
