Wednesday will see the return of the film festival. This year there were 28 entrants and they were narrowed down to 12 by a panel of judges from both CDS and internationally in South Africa. I know many are excited to see who will win this year!
Tomorrow Jasmine Kwon, Su Shin, Tammy Lee, and Yerin Park will participating in the KAIAC / KIMEA Solo and Ensemble festival. This festival is an opportunity for young musicians to perform solo or as a small ensemble in front of a judge to receive comments and adjudication.
These four girls have participated in this festival for the last three years. They always put in a substantial amount of time and effort in preparing for this festival.
These girls are some of the most dedicated musicians here at CDS and we are all cheering for your successful performance tomorrow!
Hello, this is Launch X CDS.
Launch-X is an entrepreneurship program designed to offer high school students a new, more challenging experience in fields of business, finance, management, and marketing. Students who join the team for the upcoming year will be forming groups in order to bring their business ideas to life, taking on different roles and gaining insight on the process involved in order to bring about success.
Jacob Lee, president of Launch X CDS, discovered this MIT-funded club when he realized that he wanted to try creating a business of his own. He decided that other students of CDS also deserved this opportunity, and this club was brought to life with the help of the leadership council.
“Too many times, all people say when promoting different clubs and activities is ‘it will look good on your college application.’ While this is quite an important factor, we wanted to form a club that wouldn’t be solely fueled by the goal to add a fancy line to resumes. We wanted the passion and confidence to come first.”
On joining Launch X, students will form teams with others that share common views on an idea and practice drafting up a business plan and presenting to an audience. Launch X also allows the individuals to learn in all four fields offered: business, finance, management, and marketing. An important thing to keep in mind is that we are not looking for ‘success.’ We are looking for the process to try, fail, and succeed, and we need people who have the zeal and confidence that allow them to overcome hardships in their pursuit for success.
The Launch-X Leadership Council consists of the president Jacob Lee (11), along with Inseo Park (11), Phillip Yoon (11), Alison Choi (11), Dana Ahn (11), Seokjun Hong (11), Collin Park (10), and Shirley Lee (9). These members will be guiding each group, through education sessions and general assistance during the meetings, in business, finance, management, and marketing aspects.
This club will be accepting applications until April 22nd through a this survey
We hope to see you or your child in the team very soon.
Congratulations to Sophomore Yejun Kwak for her recent accomplishments as an art and design student! Yejun was awarded the Second Place award in the 2017-2018 Discover FAA High School Talent Competition hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). The competition featured artwork from over 13 countries, and 34 states within the United States.
Yejun's piece was created for submission within "Landscape Architecture" category. She designed an original 3D model; Yejun describes the space as being inspired by "futuristic design...wanting there to be a lot of greenery, with the water as the center of focus".
It certainly wasnt easy to get organised but it seems everyone is doing very well in their roles supporting the Pyeongchang Paralympics. Thank you volunteers for all your hard work!
